Dinner Tonight: Spicy Roast Beef Ciabatta
January 14, 2011
We often find ourselves buying fancy sandwiches at places like Panera Bread. Sometimes we get sandwiches at Subway. Why is it though that when we make sandwiches at home they're usually on regular whole wheat bread and nothing but maybe some meat and cheese with perhaps a bit of mustard? Boring!
What makes those restaurant sandwiches so delicious? Usually it's the bread and sometimes it's the spread. If you've read my blog much, you know how we all love the Turkey & Tomato Pannini by EatingWell. It's all too easy to stick to what we know we like. I've made a few variations of that recipe, but this time I decided to just go for it and make something totally new for us.
Behold, the Spicy Roast Beef Ciabatta made with my Dill Chipotle Spread:

The boys loved it and so did I. I'm going to try and make more "gourmet" sandwiches of my own and share them here. Given our schedules, it will likely be a regular Friday meal but I'm not going to make any promises. Stay tuned!

A good spread can make the difference between an average sandwich and an awesome sandwich. This spread has a flavor that goes great with a roast beef or poultry sandwiches. Just be mindful of the calories; don't overdo it!
