1. 80's Ladies' Night at The Melting Pot

I like totally had a radical time tonight all dressed up for 80's Ladies' Night at The Melting Pot with my hot pink zebra print press-on nails. Usually I go to Melting Pot for my birthday but this year I knew I was going for ladies' night so I didn't. I always enjoy the typically 2 hour (minimum) dining experience. Tonight was no exception.

2. Bess Friends at Best Bistro - Strike that; reverse it!

Before going to pick up my wedding gown, Evelina and I went to Bess Bistro (owned by Sandra Bullock) for lunch. She's a Sandra Bullock fan (and so am I), so I wanted to be sure she got to visit before leaving town.

3. Carlos & Charlies!

If you live in Austin you've probably heard the radio commercials for Carlos & Charlies out on Lake Travis. Every time it comes on, I shout in my best accent along with the commercial, Carlos & Charlies!!! I can't help it. It's almost a reflex. Darn them (the commercial creators) for doing that to me! Will they live up to the commercial?

4. Dinner at "how do you roll?"

I really like to make sushi my way and "how do you roll" makes that so easy. If you haven't read my other posts about HDYR (formerly known as Maki) then I'm not making much sense. They're sort of like Subway or Chipotle, just sushi.

5. Dulces at Lakeline for Lunch with Mom, Dan & Gaetano

My son, Gaetano, had chicken taquitos; I think they were the same as the Flautitas de Pollo (Traditional chicken flautas served with a mild spicy sauce and sour cream) on the adult menu. He was full after one, so he took the other home and had it for dinner. Gaetano was particularly impressed by the paprika shaped moon, "Look mom, it's their logo!"

6. Good Fortune at Panda Express

Dan and I were pleased to see this since we're almost married. We've been engaged since September 2008, so a wedding is definitely in our future.

7. how do you roll?

I absolutely love that I can get sushi the way I want without feeling like I am hassling the server to leave things out of pre-defined roll options. Plus, if I have a roll I like elsewhere I can almost always re-create it here.

Just look at that roll and tell me that it doesn't look like something from a gourmet sushi place. Some of the best rolls I've had have come from this restaurant.
